Early morning rising and snow/hail at our footsteps as we left for the run today! It was surprisingly exciting to see the round white balls falling from the sky! I know, to those who have seen enough of the white stuff-enough already!!! For me-it was a lovely surprise!
On the way to the race and as we waited for our start, it sprinkled, flurried was cold and breezy…and warmed to….39!
My friend ran in the 5K and I walked with my friend’s friend…we took last places and had a wonderful time strolling along the path! Our time for the 5K walk was the same as for the winner of the 13K!
We had a lovely after race lunch in an old home which had been converted to a tearoom! Old china, tea in tea cups! I found an incredibly soft cashmere scarf.
On the way home, we saw a sign inviting the town to a “halfway to Halloween” party!
After relaxing and warming up! Stayed about 39 for the race…we met some other women for a birthday dinner celebration at a fabulous restaurant in Pittsburg! Irish music at a local pub and to bed!
Why inspiration in today’s note?
Seeing first of the spring flowers pushing their way thru the scrub, new green grass, my first spring robin…
Walking with a woman who had had a stroke at 47…she was now 57 and recovered completely!
Walking with a man who had been about 150 overweight and decided to become healthier, lost the weight and was learning how to compensate for the loss of body fat needed to stay warm…and was using this 13K to train for the full marathon scheduled for the next day!
Walking with a woman who wasn’t sure if she could run the 5k but was willing to try!
I had dinner with a woman who decided to donate her kidney to her brother. He’s doing very well, she’s writing a book about her story and deciding to move to Europe!
My dear friend decided to leave her home and position and move to Pittsburg-without a confirmed job…she’s now well respected in her current position, has her own home and creating her life on her terms! She decided to take up running in spite of having asthma! And loves it!
Inspiration and people who inspire us are all about…it may be a simple action or a great deed…listening and sharing ideas…patience and the willingness to learn…openness…thank you to those who have inspired me.
